Before the calendar even turns to December, there’s a pressure to do Christmas bigger and better than last year. Bigger lights on a bigger tree with bigger presents beneath it.

But Christmas started with a teenager named Mary. Raised in poverty to a nameless family in an insignificant village. But because she was small, she was able to be a part of something bigger than herself.

This year, rethink the way you Christmas and be small.

Don’t buy the gift just to impress your coworkers. Dial back on the decorations. When you give a gift, do it in secret. Stop trying to impress others with your importance.

When you prepare for Christmas by being small, you’ll find the incomparable joy of celebrating something bigger than yourself.

God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin… and the virgin’s name was Mary…
Luke 1:26
